This page explains browser storage used in connection with cgcMarathon. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
Cookies and local storage are different
A cookie is a small value a website asks your browser to store and may send back with later requests. Local storage keeps values for a website in your browser without automatically attaching them to every request. Both can help remember settings, but their behaviour differs.
Our appearance preference
The cgcMarathon template uses local storage with the key cgc-theme. Its value is light or dark. It remembers the appearance selected with the theme button. If no preference is saved, the template tries to follow your device's colour preference.
This value remains until you clear the site's stored data or your browser removes it. It contains an appearance setting, not an email address or account identifier. The theme can still display when storage is unavailable, although your choice may not persist.
Blogger and Google services
Google provides the Blogger hosting and comment features. Cookies or related technologies used by those services depend on the feature, your sign-in state, and Google's controls. See How Google uses cookies for its explanation.
Fonts, embeds, and linked sites
The template loads Google Fonts, which involves external network requests; a request is not itself proof that a cookie is set. Embedded videos or other third-party content may use their own storage when present. Visiting a linked site brings that site's policies and settings into effect.
Advertising and analytics
We do not describe optional advertising or analytics cookies as active without an implemented service. If optional services are added, we will update these details and introduce applicable choices before their use where required. A browser theme preference is not consent to advertising tracking.
Manage your choices
Your browser's site settings let you view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage for cgcmarathon.org. Blocking third-party cookies may affect embedded content or sign-in features. Clearing site data resets the saved theme choice and may sign you out of services.
For Google-provided controls and explanations, consult Google's guidance on managing cookies. Your browser's own help explains its available settings.
