How to Turn DSR Factors Off and Restore Native Resolution

Open NVIDIA Control Panel, choose Manage 3D Settings, find DSR Factors and clear every selected factor, including DL scaling factors if shown. Apply the change. Also return the game and desktop to their intended native resolution, because removing available factors and correcting an already selected resolution are related but separate steps.

01

Record the current resolution before changing settings

Note the desktop resolution, refresh rate and game resolution. If you are investigating a performance drop, also record any render-scale or upscaling setting. DSR factors expose higher rendering resolutions, but a game can have its own independent resolution-scaling controls.

Close the game before changing driver options to avoid confusion about which settings have been applied to the active session. You do not need to reset every NVIDIA setting merely to remove DSR. A narrow change preserves unrelated colour, synchronization and application preferences you may have configured deliberately.

02

Clear the factors in NVIDIA Control Panel

Open NVIDIA Control Panel from the desktop menu or Windows search. Go to Manage 3D Settings and inspect the Global Settings tab. Find DSR Factors, open its list and uncheck every enabled factor. This includes any separate DL scaling entries if your system presents them there.

Apply the change and confirm that the setting reads Off or has no selected factors. NVIDIA’s reference explains that available 3D controls depend on the hardware and application. The exact displayed options can therefore differ from a screenshot taken on another desktop or driver version.

For the documented reference, see NVIDIA’s Manage 3D Settings reference.

03

Return the desktop to its intended native mode

Open Windows display settings and select the correct native resolution for the monitor, normally identified as recommended. Check the refresh rate separately, because resolution and refresh are different settings. Verify the correct screen if you use multiple displays.

Do not select a lower resolution solely because it appears after removing DSR. The aim is the panel’s intended native mode, not the smallest available option. If text remains unusually scaled, inspect Windows scaling as a separate control rather than assuming the graphics driver has failed to disable downsampling.

04

Correct the game’s stored resolution too

Reopen the game and inspect its display settings. Select native output and apply the change. If you want an ordinary native-rendering baseline, also check render scale, dynamic resolution and any in-game supersampling option; those can increase or decrease internal resolution independently of DSR.

Some games retain their previous configuration or interpret borderless resolution through the desktop mode. Restart the game if needed. If an unsupported stored resolution prevents normal startup, use that title’s documented configuration-reset procedure rather than deleting arbitrary files or changing unrelated registry settings.

05

Investigate missing or persistent options carefully

A missing DSR control can relate to GPU support, driver state or which GPU drives the display, especially on laptops. It does not prove that hidden DSR is currently active. Check the actual game and desktop resolutions before attempting a repair.

If a change seems not to persist, reopen the panel after applying it and verify the same setting. Check for profile utilities or configuration tools that may restore previous preferences. Use the manufacturer’s current support guidance for your hardware rather than assuming every hybrid-graphics system exposes the same desktop controls.

06

Verify the result through the workload

Repeat the original game scene at the confirmed native settings. Compare GPU load, frame time and interface size. If performance is still poor, investigate other graphics settings, thermal behaviour or system limits instead of repeatedly toggling DSR.

The key sequence is clear factors, apply, correct desktop mode and correct game mode. DSR is only one possible source of above-native rendering. Once it is disabled and the resolution path is verified, keep the diagnosis focused on the remaining evidence rather than resetting the entire driver configuration.

Frequently asked questions

Should I disable DLDSR entries as well?

Yes, if your goal is to remove all DSR-style higher-resolution factors. Clear any selected DL scaling entries shown in the same list.

Why is the game still rendering above native?

Check its stored resolution, render scale and supersampling controls. Those may be independent of the driver’s available DSR factors.

Do I need to reinstall the driver?

Usually begin with the specific setting and resolution checks. A full reinstall is not the first step for an ordinary DSR configuration change.
